Proceedings Interpreter: Protocol Considerations as an Officer of the Court with Linda Ross

This workshop will focus on the role definition of the proceedings interpreter and how that role is reflected in court protocol and procedure. Protocol relating to requests of the court, disclosures to the court, correcting the record, and intra-team monitoring and collaboration will be addressed. Participants will engage in small group activities where different protocol considerations are discussed and applied.

The examination of witnesses is of paramount importance in the legal context. Questioning is a structured sequence designed to elicit specific information from a witness, and is a process impacted by legal parameters and legal or investigative strategies. This workshop will focus on the exploration of factors that significantly impact the nature and structure of lines of questioning in the legal context, and considerations for interpreting.
Cost: $80 for one workshop, $150 for both
