Indiana School for the Deaf (ISD) is proud to present a workshop by Jodee Crace. It will be broken up into morning and afternoon sessions.

Early Intervention: "News and Happenings"

New parents of deaf infants and toddlers are receiving resources by many different people and professionals. These resources are provided through a variety of avenues. Some parents say this information (and support) are helpful. Some say they are overwhelming or confusing. What are the 'news and happenings' that the parents receive? This morning session will cover the ins and outs of the system at work.

ASL Acquisition Trends for New Families.

What do most of the parents like about learning ASL? In this afternoon session you will learn how early intervention an d learning ASL are intertwined to give the deaf child the best of all possible outcomes in alignment with their communication needs. Participants will learn what tools are available and appropriate for new parents to learn (acquire) ASL, including measuring self progress, consistent use of ASL with their children, and satisfaction rating of learning and utilizing ASL.
