This workshop will prepare RID test candidates to take the interview and performance components of the current National Interpreter Certification examination. Test logistics will be described for the interview portion. Participants will practice responding to ethical scenarios as they are presented in the test; they will practice with hypothetical questions. For the performance portion, the ten skill domains will be covered. Participants will interpret several scenarios similar to those on the NIC exam and take a complete mock performance exam.

What we will do:

• Go through a PowerPoint describing the logistics of the NIC.

• Discuss in detail what is required for an effective response to the interview portion.

• Practice responding to several hypothetical scenarios in small groups and then in groups of two.

• Discuss in detail what is required to successfully pass the performance portion of the test.

• Practice with several scenarios in groups of two.

• Take a complete mock exam.
